2008 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Review
I acquired this bottle in a trade for a bottle of liquor I had because I was on a 43 day stock market rush and was fueled by the ART OF THE DEAL! It's been a while since I had Silver Oak and what better night to revisit than a random Thursday when it's 500 degrees outside?
Silver Oak is a family owned winery that produced Cabernet Sauvignon. That's it. Nothing more and nothing less. Love it. I let this particular bottle aerate for about an hour and have been nursing on it for another hour or so because I'm a titty bitch. It has evolved quite nicely in that time and it is now pleasing me.
In da nose I got a watered down aroma of pomegranate followed by some sweet blackberry cobbler and oak. When I initially popped the bottle I thought it was going to be a nuclear fruit bomb but it chilled the hell out. In da mouf I got GINORMOUS plum that morphed into a soft anise finish.
This was a beautiful wine but for $110 your money is better spent elsewhere. I think cabs like this are fantastic but if you took this same quality and moved it to Europe you're looking at a $50 bottle. If you can live this baller ass life then do it otherwise hang out with me in poorville.
